Bacher designs and develops complete automatic exposure and registration solutions. To achieve the highest quality and fastest availability, Bacher produces more than two-thirds of all components in-house; all other parts are purchased from well-known manufacturers.
The company was founded in 1947 by Baptist Bacher as a workshop for eye and book printing tweezers. In 1957, Baptist Bacher introduced a complete line of measurement equipment. Over the years, his surname has been recognized in the graphic arts and printing industry.
By Productronica 1993, the company was launching the FAPS 600, a fully automatic printing system. Within two years, 35 of these systems were installed in Europe. With the delivery of the hundredth FAB 600 in 1997, Bacher became a European leader in automatic exposure systems.
Currently, new products are being introduced to the PCB market (ILS and PEPS product lines). Today over 250 FAPS 600 units, which automatically expose dry and liquid resists and solder mask, have been installed worldwide. With subsidiaries established in Taiwan, the U.S., and Hong Kong, Bacher is hopes to strengthen its international position.
The company employs about 150 people, and has sales of approximately DM 30 million ($14 million). Sales have shifted over the years from graphic arts to the PWB industry, which now represents 80% of Bacher's sales. Today, the PWB product line consists of exposure systems, cleaner modules, board flipper, post-etch-punches (PEP), and a semi-automated innerlayer lay-up system.*
With the stated company goal of developing and producing equipment that is at the fore- front of technology, of high quality and longevity, Bacher looks into a very positive future.
